The farm

Since 1996 we have trained several young teams of oxen for various uses: logging, agricultural fairs, and parades. In the spring of 2010 we sold our last team of Brown Swiss oxen, Bull and Dozer.

Guests can view our flock of almost 90 laying hens, including some rare breeds (Lakenvelder, Golden and Silver Laced Wyondottes, Aracaunas, and Black Australorps). They provide eggs to our island customers.

Young oxen
Dancer

We are presently training Dancer, our draft horse, using Clinton Anderson's Downunder Horsemanship methods. Dani is 17.2 hands tall, dapple gray, Registered Percheron mare.

Young oxen

Besides becoming a riding horse we hope to have Dancer pull our freight wagon in the future.

Indy Jan.2005 - June 2012

His love of people, his gentleness and his intelligence will be sorely missed here at Dunroven.

Our resident farm dog is a 125+ pound Rhodesian Ridgeback named Indiana Jones who loves naps, walks, treats, and our guests.  Indy enjoys the "Search and Rescue" exercises we do with him so he can use his natural scenting ability.
